Manifestation Happens

If you have been reading this blog for very long, you know that I have been studying the Law Of Attraction for the past few months and trying to consciously implement its principles into my life. Basically, you have to get clear on what you want and allow yourself to have it. It sounds simple but it takes practice. If I create my world then I have to take responsibility for everything in my life, even those pesky back-up beeps. I'm still working on that one.

For quite some time now, I have wanted a kayak. Women who paddle a lot have fabulous upper bodies. I can always use more upper body strength for what I do for a living and I don't particularly like working out. When we moved into this house, I knew I had a good place to store a kayak so I started looking for one on craigslist. I did not really want to buy one, I wanted to barter for one. I had a couple of 'nearly got one' experiences. Yesterday it happened. I manifested a kayak!!!! I am very excited and can't wait to take it out on Town, I mean, Ladybird Lake.

The thing I like most about the kayak is how it came to me. I am serious when I say I manifested it. I also say that about the house we live in, which is a mansion compared to the place we moved into when we first moved back to Austin five years ago. We have moved three times since then, each time to a better place than the one before. This house is a quantum leap from the first one. It took five years to get this house but only a few months to get the kayak. Both times, I was very clear about what I wanted and just waited for it to come to me in the way that it came. The rent on our house is a couple of hundred dollars a month less than what we thought we would have to pay for a house with a lot less yard for Lani. I got exactly the car I wanted in the same way for a little less that what I thought I'd have to pay as well. That took less time than the kayak. I think that was because I was more focused on it.

When I started working with the Law Of Attraction, it was all about my financial situation and things that I wanted. It is becoming more a way of life with me because it works on all levels. I am becoming much more aware of my thoughts and the thought patterns that govern my life. Once I become aware of a thought pattern, I can usually figure out how it is affecting me and make an effort to transform it into a pattern with which I am more comfortable. I look forward to attracting more wonderful people, things and feelings into my life.
Soundtrack for this post: Creedence Clearwater Revival's Proud Mary 'cause I'm gonna be rollin' on the river real soon. Feel free to substitute Tina Turner's version if you like.

bartering for a kayak. What a great idea! I need more info. Excuse me while I check out this Law of Attraction stuff.

mrf, Ifi you meant that you want more info on the barter, I'm a massage therapist and I am trading my services. If it is LoA that you are seeking infoo about, a good place to start is Ask and It Is Given, a book by Abraham-Hicks. YOu can get it through their website abraham-hicks.com which is a good place to look around anyway.

I remember many years ago being given a book by Norman Vincent Peale call the Power of Positive Thinking.
It's amazing what power it has.
That being said my thought is while we are on this spiritual journey we have to be careful about how we use these gifts.
It can be innocent enough but I still feel one has to be careful..
just my thoughts.:)

tc, I'm not sure what you feel that we need to e careful with. I know that when I first started hearing about positive thinking, it did not seem real to me..like some of that stuff was faking it somehow and it probably was. The problem that I saw/see with some of the positive thinking movement was that it tries to take people too far to fast. If you try to take too big a once at once, say from point A to point D, it may seem impossible and can feel like a failure for even trying and start to believe that getting to point D is impossible. However, if you go from point A to point B to point C and then to point D, it feels completelu logical and natural. A lot of those early books left all that out because the authors did not always realize that they had taken all the steps. This discouraged a lot of people, myself included.

Ah, see, I can totally see giving a massage and getting a kayak! I give lip service and trust me when I say no one thinks its ever a good trade. I think I need to learn to knead better.

I don't know, pool, it might depend on what kind of lip service...of course, you could have some legal issues..

YAY!!! What a great post. Such a good reminder to think about our thoughts and what we're focusing on.

Congratulations on manifesting your kayak. And that's just the thing - it was always yours. You just had to claim it.

I think the biggest deterrent is not believing that we deserve what we want and making excuses for why we can't have it until we create a self-fulfilling prophesy. If we can overcome that, the rest is probably easy.

I agree with you about our not believing we deserve things. 'Deserve'is one of those words that I have never been comfortable with. It feels a little like 'earn' but not really. It seems to indicate that one has to do something to be worthy. I have gone years without using it.

I had the opposite effect when I first started positive thinking. I took baby steps and wasn't using it to become successful or get a new car but to see the glass as half full when I encountered problems in my life.
My point about being careful was it is easy to fall into seeing the practice as the thing to focus on rather than just a tool.
If it works and one is not ready for it it's easy to become wrapped up in the materialism nature of *getting things*.
It becomes the new drug and it can detour one's spiritual growth.
I'm having difficulty finding the right words to explain myself for some reason.
Anyway thanks for a great topic.
tc
btw my comments aren't directed at you but how some people may choose to use it.

I meant to say materialistic..lol, see I told you I couldn't express myself today.
Have a great weekend.

i cited the dalai lama in an AA meeting yesterday. i was talking about how little of my current situation with the strike and all that jazz is by my choosing, but, there it is, and i'm really OK with it. i used a parable that i heard the dalai lama use in a speech i attended.

a young man enters a monastery to study the path and hopefully acheive enlightenment. he meets with the master and asks "master, what shall i do while i seek enlightenment?" and the master says "chop wood and fetch water."

years pass, the young man studies dutifully and earnestly. after a long time he feels that he is on the verge of his enlightenment and he asks the master "master, what shall i do once i have attained enlightenment?" and the master says "joyfully chop wood and fetch water."

the principle of attraction is a very powerful thing that has been noticed by many of the world's greatest thinkers and philosophers. anyway, it is hard to argue with results isn't it?

have fun paddling. kayaks are a gas. we use them to go fishing off of la jolla. good exercise, good fun, great fishing.

tc, you seem to be assuming that the material and the spiritual are mutually exclusive. I believe that material things can be an extension of the spiritual. Allowing yourself to be and to have can be closely related.

Thanks, Laurie

mb, I love that parable from the Dali Lama. He was here in Austin a few years ago and I covered a shift for someone else so that she could go. It would have been nice to have gone myself. You are right about the Law OF Attraction. It is hard to argue with the results. It also means that we have to take responsibility for everything that comes into our lives and that can be a scary thing for some people.
